Tabbed by: fauxglory

[Verse 1]

Bm
F# G F#
On rough streets I never could realize
Bm F#
What was the problem, oh no
G F# Bm
Why am I getting called out this way?
F# G F#
Oh, I just couldn't see my leather coat
Bm F#
Or who's looking at me now
G
I couldn't pull it off
F# Bm
To walk the street looking just how I would like

Without looking left or right
F# G
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh and it goes

[Chorus]

D F# Bm A G
When I was young I only wanted to be black
D F# Bm A Bm
And I would have paid to wear what I want and still relax

[Verse 2]

F# G
What's your plans for the night?
F# Bm F#
Meet up at the, no, I'll get on my fixed gear
G
In purple or black tights
F# Bm
You're dressed just right for your decade true
F# G
You're dressed just right for your age
F# Bm F#
What used to be a stage is just a phase now
G
You're not going up through life
F# Bm
It's only just like changing channels on your TV

That's not how it's supposed to be
F# G
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh and it goes

[Chorus]

D F# Bm A G
When I was young I only wanted to be black
D F# Bm A G
And I would have paid to wear what I want and still relax
D
And everyone at the time
F# Bm A G
Was only classic then, only classic then
D
And everyone at this time
F# Bm A Bm
Is only classic now, only classic now

[Bridge]

F#
What kind of accomplishment is throw back?
G
I was the first one to prefer that
F#
Everyone's making dance music true
Bm
But we started 2002

So what the future don't appeal to you
F# G
Where no one's supposed to wear Jordan shoes

When I was young yeah I wore them to school
F# Bm
But I had them on only like something to lose

[Verse 3]

F# G
You got your eyes on it now
F# Bm F#
Your fashionable goals you could never make it, oh no
G
Anyway who could pull it off
F# Bm
When everything cast as the future of retro
F#
I got beat up for my cloths, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
G
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh and it goes

[Chorus]

D F# Bm A G
When I was young I only wanted to be black
D F# Bm A G
And I would have paid to wear what I want and still relax
D
And everyone at the time
F# Bm A G
Was only classic then, only classic then
D
And everyone at this time
F# Bm A D
Is only classic now, only classic now
