Harry Nilsson

Think About Your Troubles

by Harry Nilsson
Harry Nilsson

Biography:

Harry Edward Nilsson III (born June 15, 1941 in Brooklyn, New York - died January 15, 1994), usually credited as simply Nilsson, was an American singer-songwriter with a three octave vocal range. He won Grammy Awards for Best Contemporary Male Vocal Performance for "Everybody's Talkin'" (1970) and "Without You" (1973), also his two biggest hits. Although both the aforementioned songs were composed by others, he was a talented songwriter in his own right, having written "One", a hit single for Three Dog Night.

Think About Your Troubles by Harry Nilsson
in the style of Belly (Tonya Donelly)

I have given the chords here. It's optional, but
I like to keep the feel of the rocking
(as in swaying ;) that's in the beginning
by lifting my finger off of the middle string
that's played in the chord every two full strums.
(ex. 1&2& (lift finger) 3&4&
For the F#m I move fingers 2 and 3 over
one string. ex.strings A,D to D,G

For the intro pluck the b string
alternating an open b string and
second fret for every two plucks.
B=Open B string
2=Second fret on B string

B 2
Sit beside the breakfast table
B 2
Think about your troubles
B 2
Pour yourself a cup of tea
B 2
And think about the bubbles
A (Strum)
You can take your teardrops
A
And drop them in a teacup
D F#m
Take them down to the riverside
F#m
And throw them over the side
F#m
To be swept up by a current
E
And taken to the ocean
E
To be eaten by some fishes
A
Who were eaten by some fishes
A
And swallowed by a whale
D
Who grew so old
F#m
He decomposed
F#m
Do do do, do do do
F#m
He died and left his body
F#m
To the bottom of the ocean
E
Now everybody knows
E
That when a body decomposes
A
The basic elements
A
Are given back to the ocean
D
And the sea does what it oughta
F#m
And soon there's salty water
F#m
(That's not too good for drinking)
E
'Cause it tastes just like a teardrop
E
(So they run it through a filter)
A
And it comes out from a faucet
A
(And is poured into a teapot)
D
Which is just about to bubble
F#m E
Now think about your troubles
(Now)
A D F#m
Noooow
E
Now, Now
A
Now
D
Oh ooOH oooh
F#m
Oh oh
E
down(?) down, down, down
A
Now
D F#m
Are you sleeping? can you hear me?
E A
Now, Now,
D
La la da da da
F#m
La la
