Grace Potter And The Nocturnals

Biography:

Grace Potter and the Nocturnals is an American rock band formed in 2004 in Waitsfield, Vermont. Featuring lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Grace Potter, the band's original blend of roots, funky blues, soul, and rock conjures up a nostalgic sound from the sixties and early seventies. Their debut album, Nothing But the Water, was released in 2005, as was Live Oh Five.

Their 2010 self-titled Grace Potter and The Nocturnals was followed by The Lion The Beast The Beat in 2012.

So I decided to transpose this and submit it, because the wife really wanted to do
this song together, and after trying out the other submissions, they didn’t sound
right. This is based off a live acoustic performance. She picks through these
notes, so listen to the song for the timing.
Regarding note variations of the C/+G and Fmaj7: The C/+G is a standard C chord +
finger 4 on the 1e @ the 3rd fret. When you hold the C/+G note at the end of
verse, hammer on and off on the 2-finger on the 2nd fret. There are two versions
of the Fmaj7. I denote the alternate version as *Fmaj7. The *alt is finger 1 on 6e
while fingering an Am with your 4,3,2 fingers. I hope that makes sense. :)

Tuning: Standard
Intro:
Am, FMaj7, C
Am, FMaj7, C
mmmmMMMMMMmmmmm

Am Fmaj7 C/+G
I lit a fire with the love you left behind,
Am Fmaj7 C/+G
And it burned wild and crept up the mountainside.
G *Fmaj7 Am7 //slide// 4*Bm7
I followed your ashes into outer space
4*Bm7 G
I can't look out the window,
*Fmaj7 Am
I can't look at this place,

C/+G Em
I can't look at the stars,
Am Fmaj7
They make me wonder where you are
C/+G Em
Stars,
Am Fmaj7
Up on heaven's boulevard
C/+G G
And if I know you at all,
Am Fmaj7
I know you've gone too far
C/+G G Am Fmaj7 C/+G
So I, can't look at the stars

Am Fmaj7 C/+G
All those times we looked up at the sky,
Am Fmaj7 C/+G
Looking out so far, we felt like we could fly.
G *Fmaj7 Am7 //slide// 4*Bm7
And now I'm all alone in the dark of night,
4*Bm7 G
The moon is shining,
*Fmaj7 Am
But I can't see the light,

C/+G Em
I can't look at the stars,
Am Fmaj7
They make me wonder where you are
C/+G Em
Stars,
Am Fmaj7
Up on heaven's boulevard
C/+G G
And if I know you at all,
Am Fmaj7
I know you've gone too far
C/+G G Am Fmaj7 C/+G
So I, can't look at the stars

Am, D(h1E), Am, G *Fmaj7 D7#
Oooh ooh oooh oooh oooh ooooh

C/+G Em Am Fmaj7
Stars,
C/+G Em
Stars,
Am Fmaj7
They make me wonder where you are
C/+G Em
Stars,
Am Fmaj7
Up on heaven's boulevard
C/+G G
And if I know you at all,
Am Fmaj7
I know you've gone too far
C/+G G Am Fmaj7 C/+G
So I can't look at the stars.
