I edited this from daveb672's tab of Townes' version.

NOTE: the 'F' in the chorus is optional. It's not in Gillian's version but you can fit it in,
otherwise just hold the 'G'.

CAPO 1

C

G C
Now when the wind don't blow in Amarillo,
G C
And the moon along the Gunnison don't rise,
F C
Shall I cast my dreams upon your love babe,
C F C
And lie beneath the laughter of your eyes.

CHORUS:
C F C
It's snowin' on Raton
G (F) C
Come morning, I'll be through them hills and gone.

G C
Ah, bid the years good-bye, you cannot still them,
G C
Like you cannot still the circles of the sun,
F C
And you cannot count the miles until you feel them,
C F C
And you cannot hold a lover that is gone.

CHORUS: C F C
G (F) C

[Solo - same as verse but play C G C in fourth line]

G C
Oh Mother thinks the road is long and lonely,
G C
Little brother thinks the road is straight and fine,
F C
Little darling thinks the road is soft and lovely,
C F C
I'm thankful that old road's a friend of mine.

CHORUS: C F C
G (F) C

[Solo - as above]

G C
Well, tomorrow the mountains will be sleeping
G C
Silent 'neath a blanket green and blue
F C
Ah, but I shall hear the silence they are keeping
C F C
I'll bring all their promises to you.

CHORUS: x2 C F C
G(F)C

END
