Cherish The Ladies - The Ballad Of The Foxhunter

CAPO: 3rd Fret

[Intro]
D

[Verse 1]
G C
Lay me in a cushioned chair
G D
Carry me, ye four
G C
With cushions here and there
G D
To see the world once more
G C
To stable and kennel go
G D
Bring what there's to bring
G C
Lead my Lollard to and fro
D C D
Or gently in a ring

[Verse 2]
G C
Put the chair upon the grass
G D
Bring Rody and his hounds
G C
That I may contented pass
G D
From these earthly bounds
G C
His eyelids, they droop
G D
Eyes cloud with dreams
G C
The sun upon all things that grow
D C D
Falls into sleepy dreams

[Chorus]
C Am
Huntsmen, blow the horn, come make the hills reply
D G
Loosen on the morn, a gay wandering cry
C Am
Rody, blow the horn, come make the hills reply
D G D
I cannot blow my horn, but only weep and sigh

[Verse 3]
G C
Lollard treads upon the lawn
G D
And to the armchair goes
G C
The old man's dreams are gone
G D
He smoothes the long, brown nose
G C
Moves a pleasant tongue
G D
Upon his wasted hands
G C
Aged hounds and young
D C D
The huntsman near him stands

[Chorus]
C Am
Huntsmen, blow the horn, come make the hills reply
D G
Loosen on the morn, a gay wandering cry
C Am
Rody, blow the horn, come make the hills reply
D G D
I cannot blow my horn, but only weep and sigh

[Verse 4]
G C
'Round his cushioned place
G D
With new sorrow wrung
G C
Hounds gazing on his face
G D
Aged hounds and young
G C
Fire is in the old man's eyes
G D
His fingers move and sway
G C
Wandering music dies
D C D
You hear him feebly say

[Chorus]
C Am
Huntsmen, blow the horn, come make the hills reply
D G
Loosen on the morn, a gay wandering cry
C Am
Rody, blow the horn, come make the hills reply
D G D
I cannot blow my horn, but only weep and sigh

[Chorus]
C Am
Huntsmen, blow the horn, come make the hills reply
D G
Loosen on the morn, a gay wandering cry
C Am
Rody, blow the horn, come make the hills reply
D G D
I cannot blow my horn, but only weep and sigh

[Verse 5]
G C
The blind hound with a mournful cry
G D
Slowly lifts his head
G C
They bear the body in
D C D
The hounds wail for the dead___

The hounds wail for the dead

Wail for the dead
