Charlie Robison - Barlight (Honky Tonk Nursery Rhyme)
Capo on the second fret

G
Well when I was young my momma read me
C
Nursery rhymes beside my bed
G
And though they sounded mighty fine
D
They made no sense to me
G
But now that I am all grown up
C
It seems my life has changed as such
G
So I went out and made me up
D G
A nursery Rhyme for me

G
It goes bar light, bar bright
C
First bar that I see tonight
G
I wish I may I wish I might
D
Find someone to hold me tight
G
Hey diddle diddle, a man with a fiddle
C
And the girls sing along with the tunes
G
Just one more dance til you turn out the lights
D G
And you can shut down this saloon

G
Well I never understood how a big old gal
C
Could raise no kids in a shoe
G
And any old Jack goes jumping in a candle
D
Needs to find something better to do
G
And rub a dub dub, three men in a tub
C
Sure sounds kind of funny to me
G
So I made up a honky tonk nursery rhyme
D G
and it's the only one I'll sing

G
It goes bar light, bar bright
C
First bar that I see tonight
G
I wish I may I wish I might
D
Find someone to hold me tight
G
Hey diddle diddle, a man with a fiddle
C
And the girls sing along with the tunes
G
Just one more dance til you turn out the lights
D G
And you can shut down this saloon
