Cara Dillon - Craigie Hill

CAPO: 4th Fret

[INTRO:] Em D G Am C Em C Em D G Am C Em C

[VERSE 1:]
G Em D C
It being springtime and the small birds they were singing
Em D C G C
Down in yon shady harbour, I carelessly did stray
Em D C G C
The thrushes they were warbling, the violets they were charming
G Em D C D
To view fond lovers talking, awhile I did delay

[VERSE 2:]
G Em D C
She said, "My dear don't leave me, for another season
Em D C G C
Though fortune does be pleasing, I'll go along with you
Em D C G C
I'll forsake friends and relations and bid this Irish nation
G Em D C D
And to the bonny Bann banks, forever I'll bid adieu"

[VERSE 3:]
G Em D C
He said, "My dear don't grieve or yet annoy my patience
Em D C G C
Ye know I love you dearly, the more I'm going away
Em D C G C
I'm going to a foreign nation to purchase a plantation
G Em D C
To comfort us hereafter all in Americ, aye"

[INTERLUDE:]
Em D G Am C D C
Ooh, oohoo, oohoo, oohoo, oohoo, oohoo, ooh
Em D G Am C D C
Ooh, oohoo, oohoo, oohoo, oohoo, oohoo, ooh

[VERSE 4:]
G Em D C
Then after a short while, a fortune does be pleasing
Em D C G C
And it caused them for to smile at our late going away
Em D C G C
We'll be happy as Queen Victoria, all in her greatest glory
G Em D C Em D
We'll be drinking wine and porter all in Americ, aye

[VERSE 5:]
G Em D C
If you're in your bed lying and thinking on dying
Em D C G C
The sight of the lovely Bann banks, your sorrow you'd give o'er
Em D C G C
Or if we're down one hour, down in yon shady bower
G Em D C Em
Pleasure would surround you, you'd think on death no more

[INTERLUDE:]
Em D G Am C D C
Ooh, oohoo, oohoo, oohoo, oohoo, oohoo, ooh
Em D G Am C D A D
Ooh, oohoo, oohoo, oohoo, oohoo, oohoo, ooh

[VERSE 6:]
G Em D C
Then fare ye well, sweet Craigie Hills, where often times I've roved
Em D C G C
I never thought, my childhood days, I'd part you any more
Em D C G C
Now we're sailing on the ocean for honour and promotion
G Em D C Em
And the bonny boats are sailing, way down by Doorin shore

[OUTRO:]
Em D G Am C D C
Ooh, oohoo, oohoo, oohoo, oohoo, oohoo, ooh
Em D G Am C D C
Ooh, oohoo, oohoo, oohoo, oohoo, oohoo, ooh
Em D G Am C D C
Ooh, oohoo, oohoo, oohoo, oohoo, oohoo, ooh
