Intro:

Bm Em, D F#7 (x2)

Verse 1:

Bm Em
I remember when,
D F#7
I saw the sea freeze.
Bm Em
But it said nothing,
D F#7
About the birds and the bees.

Bm
They were swarming,
Em
Around my head;
D F#7
You'd be better off dead.

Bridge 1:

G F#m
But I ain't going down like that.
G F#m
I ain't going down like that.

Chorus 1:

Bm
'Cos I'm better than him,
Em
And I know where I've been,
D F#7
You know where I'm coming from.
Bm
And I'm hired to sin,
Em
But don't we all sin?
D
That is the truth,
F#7
And the truth is grim.

Bm
It ain't easy in jail,
Em
The stories for sale,
D
Your father has died,
F
While he's gripped for bail.
Bm
He points to the west,
Em
And he leaves out the rest,
D
And wants you to be,
F#7
His special guest.

Interlude:

G F#m
Oo...oh,
G F#m
Oo...oh.

Verse 2:

Bm Em
I remember when,
D F#7
I saw the leaves fall.
Bm Em
I was in the woods,
G
And the gown you,
F#7
Wouldn't wear to the Ball.
Bm Em
Into the ditch I fly;
D F#7
Wanted dead or a-live.

Bridge 2:

G F#m
But I ain't going down like that.
G F#m
No, I ain't going down like that.

Chorus 2:

Bm
'Cos I'm better than him,
Em
And I know where I've been,
D F#7
You know where I'm coming from.
Bm
And I'm hired to sin,
Em
But don't we all sin?
D
That is the truth,
F#7
And the truth is grim.

Bm
It ain't easy in jail,
Em
The stories for sale,
D
Your father has died,
F
While he's gripped for bail.
Bm
He points to the west,
Em
And he leaves out the rest,
D
And wants you to be,
F#7
His special guest.

G F#m
Oo...oh.
