Bryan John Appleby

The Silent Shepherd

by Bryan John Appleby
Bryan John Appleby

Biography:

Bryan John Appleby is a singer-songwriter and composer living in Seattle, WA.

Appleby spent a winter and spring holed up with close friends in a Ballard warehouse banging pots, plucking strings, tapping mason jars, and plunking pianos. What emerged from these musical ramblings was the long-awaited debut full-length, Fire on the Vine. The album elaborates on his affinity for organic soundscapes and acoustic found sounds. And yet, the record remains accessible with lush, satisfying melodies.

Intro: C F C ~ Am C Am C

C Am Em F
Come down mighty river and flow through the land
C Am Em F
Come fill every dry well and break and every dam
Am C Em F
Come smash through the stone walls that hold back your blood
C Am Em F
Come fill in the garden, the valley, the grove

Bridge: C F C Am C Am C

C Am Em F
Come down blessed shepherd there’s wolves in the pen
C Am Em F
They're tearing to pieces the littlest lambs
Am C Em F
You wait on the ridge come watch over the folk
C Am Em F
Cause there’s dogs in the night and they bite like the cold

Am C F
I don’t hear the trumpet call
Am C F
I can’t find all the suns in the sky
Am C E F
And I don’t see the clouds roll back like a scroll

OoooOOooo

C Am Em F
Come down lonely harlot locked high in the hills
C Am Em F
You’ve seen signs and wonders but never the thrills
Am C Em F
Of knowing the touch of her hand by the dawn
C Am Em F
Or giving as much as you can to a son
Am C Em F
Come down to the water come down to the road
