[Intro]

G Bm Em C (x3)

C D

[Verse 1]

G D
I never felt like I was home
Em C
Felt like a strange long-distance caller
G D Em C
Set to the words I heard on the needle spinnin' by my bedside
G D
And I used to stay up most of the night
Em C
With my ear tuned to any sign
G D Em C
Of life, of love, of something that felt like redemption

[Pre-Chorus]

C D Em G
And I never dreamed that I would see you again
C Bm
But I never forgot all the times that we spent
Em D
flying rolled down low like the window

[Chorus]

G D Em C
And maybe we believed in very, very foolish things
G D C
Maybe these songs kept us breathing another tomorrow
G D
And we were always very sure we
Em C
were never gonna change the world
G D Em C
I never held any grudges or kept any pictures

[Interlude]

G Bm Em C (x3)

C D

[Verse 2]

G D
And what did it mean for all these years
Em C
I spent chasin' them ferris wheels
G D Em C
That were always gone like visions come the morning?
G D
But there's not one day I regret
Em C
And I would do it all again
G D Em C
So if I go down, Lily, I'm going down believing

[Pre-Chorus]

C D Em G
And I never dreamed that I would see you again
C Bm
And I lost myself for a season in Hell flying
Em D
flying rolled down low like the window

[Chorus]

G D Em C
And maybe we believed in very, very foolish things
G D C
Maybe these songs kept us breathing another tomorrow
G D
And we were always very sure we
Em C
were never gonna change the world
G D Em C
I never held any grudges or kept any pictures

[Solo]

G Bm Em C (x3)

G Bm Em C (x3)

Em C G D (x2)

[Bridge]

Em C
She said, "tonight, my love,
G D Em C G D
I declare this war for your falling from grace with me"
Em C G D
While Neptune rolled out a carpet made of gold
Em C G D
for the mermaids he drowned in the sea
Em C G
It's been a long time
D Em C G
since I kept any pictures
D Em C G
And it's been a long night,
D Em C G D
I don't know where to find her

[Chorus]

G D Em C
And maybe we believed in very, very foolish things
G D C
Maybe these songs kept us breathing another tomorrow
G D
And we were always very sure we
Em C
were never gonna change the world
G D Em C
I never held any grudges or kept any pictures

[Outro]

Em C G
It's been a long time
D Em C G
since I kept any pictures
D Em C G
And it's been a long night,
D Em C G
I don't know where to find her
D Em C G
It's been a long time
D Em C G
since I kept any pictures
D Em C G
And it's been a long night,
D Em C G D G
I don't know where to find her
