Bobby Bare

High Plains Jamboree

by Bobby Bare
Bobby Bare

Biography:

Bobby Bare (born Robert Joseph Bare on April 7, 1935 in Ironton, Ohio) is an American country music singer and songwriter.

In the fifties after many failed attempts to sell his songs, he finally was signed up with Capitol Records and recorded a few rock and roll songs without much chart success. Just before he was drafted into the Army, he wrote a song called 'The All American Boy' and did a demo for his friend, Bill Parsons, to learn and record it.

[Verse]
C G
Well she was a honky tonker
G C
And he was a family man
C G
Yeah and she showed him her gold teeth
G C
When he'd hold her little hand

[Bridge]
F C
And they met out on the highway at the Paradise Motel lounge
G C
On a saturday night when things weren't right 'tween him and his wife in town

[Chorus]
F G C
And they's just another couple on a high plains jamboree
F G C
Playing out them sad songs they understand
F G C
Yeah they just another couple making jukebox memories
F G C
And walking into troubles hand in hand

[Solo]
F-G-C F-G-C

[Verse]
C G
Well now she weren't no maid of cotton
G C
And he weren't no hell of a man
C G
But they must have loved each other
G C
Like only the lonely can

[Bridge]
F C
Cause they slow dance through the neons like a sorrow through a song
G C
And they carried the tune to the motel room and played it all night long

[Chorus]
F G C
And they's just another couple on a high plains jamboree
F G C
Playing out them sad songs they understand
F G C
Yeah they just another couple making jukebox memories
F G C
And a-walking into troubles hand in hand
F G C
Just a-walking into troubles hand in hand
