LILY DALE
This is an old song from 1852, written by, H.S. Thompson. Billy Jack
Wills, Bob's brother, re-wrote it somewhat and put a tune to it that
would fit the Bob Wills style. It modulates from D to A and back, kinda
like, "San Antonia Rose.

[Verse]
D D7 G
- As I hear the mockin birds, - I re - - member the words,
D A7
When you - said that forever you'd love - me,
D D7 G
Now - happiness is gone, - mem - o - - ries linger on,
D A7 D
From the - chains of our - love I set you -free.

[Instrumental]
D Eb E7

[Key change to A]

[Chorus]
A E7 A A7
- Sweet as the morning, - smile like the - sunshine, -
D A E7
- Ours was a - love no words could - tell,
A E7 A A7
- I love you, - oh how I - miss you, -
D E7 A A7
- Won't you come - back, Lily - Dale.

[Verse 2]
[Key change to D]
D D7 G
Since - we have said good bye, - I'm so - blue I could cry,
D A7
Happ - i - - ness is a thing called the - past,
D D7 G
- Days without you, - make my - nights oh so blue,
D A7 D
And - always in my - heart, our love will - last.

[Key change to A]
A D Eb E7

[Outro]
D E7 A D A
Tag: Still in A. - Won't you come - back, Lily - Dale.
