Bob Lind

Not That I Would Want Her Back

by Bob Lind
Bob Lind

Biography:

Bob Lind (born Robert Neale Lind, in Baltimore, Ohio, 25 November 1942) was a folk music singer/songwriter in the 1960s, who released one transatlantic chart hit single. That song was entitled "Elusive Butterfly", which was a prominent track in 1966.

[edit] Career
Lind signed a recording contract with World Pacific Records in 1965, and it was on that label that he had his huge hit. The single may have done even better in the UK Singles Chart had he not had competition from Val Doonican, who released a rival version of the same song.

Gm C Gm C
The other evening I was drinking with my friends
Gm C Gm C
In no specific frame of mind
Gm C Gm C
Don't know exactly why I thought of her again
Gm C Gm
And how she mixed her drinks with lime

F Am Bb C
Then I found that i was talking about all the little ways she filled my time
Gm
It's not that i would want her back
C
Of course you know it's not like that
Gm C F
It must have been the music or the wine

Bb C

Gm C Gm C
I woke up dreaming from a sleepy four a.m
Gm C Gm C
Don't know exactly why I did
Gm C Gm C
Caught up in memories of the rhythms of her sleep
Gm C Gm
When she was next to me and glad to be

F Am Bb C
And I reached across the darkness but I only touched the vacancy beside me
Gm
It's not that I would want her back
C
She wasn't all that much in fact
Gm C F
I'm glad she's gone, I'm happy to be free

Bb C

Gm C Gm C
You know it really wasn't such a heavy scene
Gm C Gm C
I've had it heavier I'm sure
Gm C Gm C
It's just these pictures in these signs and magazines
Gm C Gm
Why do so many look like her?

F Am Bb C
And her vision lingers over all the nights that fade and follow all her memories
Gm
But it's not that I would want her back
C
It's just the summer night attracting
Gm C Db Eb F
Pictures from a dream a world behind me
