by Bill Monroe
Bill Monroe

Biography:

Bill Monroe (September 13, 1911 – September 9, 1996) developed the style of country music known as bluegrass, which takes its name from his band, the "Blue Grass Boys," named for his home state of Kentucky. Monroe's performing career spanned 60 years as a singer, instrumentalist, composer and bandleader. He is often referred to as "the father of bluegrass."

In the rock (and roll) community, Bill Monroe may be best known via one of Elvis Presley's earliest recordings at Sun Records, that of Monroe's 'Blue Moon of Kentucky'.

River Of Death - Bill Monroe (Key of F, Capo 3 and play in D position)
D
Oh the River of Death lies just before me
G D
Can I find a place, that I can cross
D
Or will I be in Sin forever
A D
Oh Lord don't let my soul be lost

(Chorus)
D
Oh I wanna walk with Christ my Savior
G D
For He's the one that'll guide me on
D
All through my life I've been a sinner
A D
Now I'm right with God so I'm travelling home

D
Oh I can hear my Savior calling
G D
To me His voice sounds sweet and low
D
For me I hear my loved ones cheering
A D
Oh praise the Lord I'm ready to go

(repeat chorus)

D
My life down here will soon be over
G D
And this old world holds nothing for me
D
He saved my soul and He made me happy
A D
That beautiful land I'm going to see

(repeat chorus)
