Bill Fay

Some Good Advice

by Bill Fay
Bill Fay

Biography:

Bill Fay is a singer-songwriter and pianist from London.

Fay began writing songs in the early 1960s while attending university and in 1966 cut a demo using a mobile studio belonging to a man named John Boden. Impressed by the demo, ex-Them drummer Terry Noon helped Bill to sign a recording contract with Decca. In 1967 the label released the single "Some Good Advice"/"Screams in the Ears", produced by early Donovan co-manager Peter Eden. The single "introduced [Fay's] characteristic downbeat melodies and scrambled impressionistic lyrics"

[Verse 1]
F#m E6
If you want to build a shed

Ride your bike, if you like
F#m Dmaj7
But don't pick your nose
E6 Dmaj7 Dmaj7/C#
Or your ears'll grow, don't you know?

[Verse 2]
F#m E6
And if you want to grease a wheel

F#m Dmaj7
But wear a vest in case of chills
E6 Dmaj7 Dmaj7/C#
And don't bolt your meals

F#m E6 Dmaj7 C#

What anyone is telling you
