Its Not As Depressing As It Sounds

by Bayside
Bayside

Biography:

Formed in October of 2000, Bayside consisted of four musicians looking for a chance to play music the rest of their lives. They recorded a demo and the band began playing shows around Long Island, NY. They quickly caught the eye of Brooklyn, New York's Dying Wish Records, who released their first EP, "Long Stories Short", featuring the songs "Foot Impressions", "Days Of My Life", "Red Head VS. The Pretty Red Bracelet", "Downtime", "Ask For It", and "Advance Letter Goodbye".

Verse 1:
Bm
Wrap me in linen
G
And show me to my
Bm
tomb Fashioned from
sheets we’ve shared
G
And things I’ve yet
Bm
to prove And the glue
is the hope that any
promise I spoke To
G
my seat or myself or
any person of note
Bm
Would be made good
while I’ve still
G
got the time

Chorus 1:
D
It’s not as
depressing as
G
it sounds Just
want to be
D
prepared I’m
in no rush to
G
end it But look
A
at it from my
perspective

Verse 2:
Bm
I’ve messed with
G
confidence and never
Bm
understood If you’re
not afraid then you’re
G
not doing all you could
Bm
And I know that there’s

love because I’ve seen
it myself And I’ll be
G
damned if I don’t move

because I’m scared to
cross the road I’ve
Bm
never felt so much
G
that I’d arrived

Chorus 2:
D A/C#
It’s not as
D D A/C#
depressing as
D G
it sounds Just
want to be
D
prepared I’m
A/C# D D
in no rush to
A/C# D G
end it But look
A
at it from my

D A/C# D
D A/C# D
We want a hap--py
G
home We want to
D A/C# D
die with friends
D A/C#
We want to smile
D G A
in life Smile
in the end

Bridge:
G F#m
And I’ve been hoping
Bm
For clearer vision
D
and open eyes I want
Em
to stop wasting all
G F#
my time keeping score
G F#
And stop existing for
Bm
all this wishing and
D
asking for What I
Em
don’t have when I’ve
G
got so much that
F#/Bb Bm A Bm A Bm A Bm
I just ignore it

G F#m G F#m G F#m Em F#m G A

Chorus 3:
D A/C#
It’s not as
D D A/C#
depressing as

in the end
G
It’s not as
depressing as
D A/C# D D A/C# D
it sounds

it sounds
