Polly - Pretty Polly - come go a-long with me,
G

G D G
Be-fore we get mar-ried some plea-sures to see.

He took her over mountains and valleys so deep,

G D G
Pretty Polly mistrusted and she began to weep.

[Verse]
G
Willie, oh Willie, I'm afraid to of your ways,
G
Willie, oh Willie, I'm afraid of your ways,
G D G
The way you've been rambling you'll lead me astray.

[Verse]
G
Well they rode a little further and what did she spy,
G
They rode a little further and what did she spy,
G D G
A newly dug grave with a spade lying by.

[Verse]
G
Polly, Pretty Polly, your guess is about right,
G
Polly, Pretty Polly, your guess is about right,
G D G
I dug on your grave the best part of last night.

[Verse]
G
She knelt down before him pleading for her life,
G
She knelt down before him pleading for her life,
G D G
Please let me stay a single girl if I can't be your wife.

[Verse]
G
He stabbed her to her heart and her heart's blood did flow,
G
He stabbed her to her heart and her heart's blood did flow,
G D G
And into the grave Pretty Polly did go.

[Verse]
G
He threw a little dirt over her and turned to go home,
G
He threw a little dirt over her and turned to go home,
G D G
Leaving nothing behind but the girl left alone.

[Verse]
G
Now ladies and gentlemen I'll bid you farewell,
G
Ladies and gentlemen I'll bid you farewell,
G D G
For killing Pretty Polly will send my soul to hell.
