Arlo Guthrie Oklahoma Nights lyrics by Jimmy Webb

F C Bb F Bb

F Bb F
Put the top down on this old Mustang
Bb F
Buy us a bottle of wine
C F Bb
Head up north to see the old gang
F Bb
I want to see some friends of mine

I want to see some friends of mine
F Bb
True loving people whose hearts are kind
D# Bb G
Find that little town that's in the back of my mind

C G C F
Oklahoma nights I will never forget you
C G C F C
Oklahoma, the wind comes sweepin' Thru a sky full of lights
Am Bb C
While he's a singin' of an airless flight
Am C
Put the lamp in a window, lead me back
F C F
Lead me back to those Oklahoma nights
G C Bb F
Oklahoma nights

When we get back to the old barn dance
C Bb F
We'll hear that Rock-a-billy band
C F Bb
Singin' about some long lost romance
F
And we'll know we're home again
Bb G F Bb
Yes we'll know we're home again
F Bb
With Panhandle people who understand

D# Bb G
Dry a little tear from the back of my hand

[Chorus]
C G C F
Oklahoma nights, I will never forget you
C G C F G
Oklahoma the wind comes sweepin' Thru a sky full of lights
Am C Bb
While he's singin' of an airless flight
G Am
Put the lamp in a window mama, turn it up bright
C F
Lead me back to those Oklahoma nights
F C
Oklahoma nights
F C G
Oklahoma nights
