Bryan John Appleby

Honey Jars

by Bryan John Appleby
Bryan John Appleby

Biography:

Bryan John Appleby is a singer-songwriter and composer living in Seattle, WA.

Appleby spent a winter and spring holed up with close friends in a Ballard warehouse banging pots, plucking strings, tapping mason jars, and plunking pianos. What emerged from these musical ramblings was the long-awaited debut full-length, Fire on the Vine. The album elaborates on his affinity for organic soundscapes and acoustic found sounds. And yet, the record remains accessible with lush, satisfying melodies.

C F C
I pick up a broken comb
F C
Run it through my thin grey hair
F Am
Though I don't have any plans tonight
F C
I'm not going anywhere
F C
Guess I should've seen this coming
F C
Don't know why I'm surprised
F Am
Every vessel on its way down
F
Takes with it the captain's life

CHORUS

C F
Though I'm blind my dear I see
C Am
The parade goes on without me
C A
My body aches my mind it weeps
F C
For you for you

VERSE 2
F C
Tonight I'm locked outside my building
F C
Guess I must have lost the key
F Am
So I'll just sit here on the sidewalk
F C
Let the snow fall on my knees
F C
And if I make it to a pay phone
F C
I don't know who i would call
F Am
So for now I'll close my eyes and rest
F
My crooked back against the wall

CHORUS

VERSE 3

F C
I read that old men will see visions
F C
And young men will follow dreams
F Am
And I believed it when I read it
F C
I see you face in everything
F C
And now your honey jars are frozen
F C
And in the window your books have browned
F Am
And there's too much room inside our bed
F
I think I'll join you in the ground

CHORUS 2

C F
Though I'm blind my dear I see
C Am
Let the chorus sing without me
C A
My body breaks my mind it sleeps
F C
With you oh oh oh
