Richmond Woman

By Andrew Bird from Fingerlings

Original is called Richland Woman Blues by Mississippi John Hurt. The pattern just
and it sounds better on a mandolin with chop chords, but a fun song on guitar nonetheless.
not 100% sure on the lyrics but its really hard to tell, my best guess is sing this but
slurry-drunk first, it will all sound good.

G C
Gimme red lipstick, and a bright pair of shoes
G D
A new bob haircut, and a shot of good booze
G C
Hurry down, sweet daddy, I'm blowin' your horn
G D G
If you come too late, no, no, your mama will be gone

Come along young man, everything sittin' right
My husbands goin' away till next Saturday night
Hurry down, sweet daddy, I'm blowin' your horn
If you come too late, no, no, your mama will be gone

Now, I'm raring to go, got red shoes on my feet
My mind is sittin' right for ten years at sea
Hurry down, sweet daddy, I'm blowin' your horn
If you come too late, no, no, your mama will be gone

Yeah cuz the red rooster said, "Cockle-doodle-do-do"
The Richmond woman says, "Any dude'll do"
Hurry down, sweet daddy, I'm blowin' your horn
If you come too late, no, no, your mama will be gone

One more time (to solo)

Red rooster said, "Cockle-doodle-do-do"
The Richmond woman says, "Any dude'll do"
Hurry down, sweet daddy, I'm blowin' your horn
If you come too late, no, no, your mama will be gone
