Amelia Curran

Wrecking Ball

by Amelia Curran
Amelia Curran

Biography:

Amelia Curran is a Canadian singer, playwright,
and songwriter. She was born in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador and currently lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The National Post describes her music as “a bit like Leonard Cohen being channeled in a dusty saloon by Patsy Cline.”

Curran started playing guitar and writing songs as a teenager and eventually dropped out of university in order to busk on the streets of St. John’s. That led to her first album release in 2000, and since then she has released four more.

INTRO G

Em D G D
Hardest hearts if you ever let go
C D G D
We'll come together on the renegade road
Am Bm C G
Lead you back to the wreckage of change
D Am C
Build your bridges, learn your name

Em D G D
Cross the river in three good strides
C D G D
Left the company wild with pride
Am Bm C G
River ribbon all around your legs
D Am C
Gripped the surface and you turned your head

G

[CHORUS]
D C G C
Jump the line and turn the key;
D C Em
Lose your guard, believe in me;
G C G C
I can love you best of all;
Am Bm C D G
I am the wrecking ball.

Em D G D
Hallelujah changed your tune
C D G D
The sky was open for you all too soon
Am Bm C G
Left the cradle in the rockin' wind
D Am C
Ran from nothing like it's everything

Em D G
Night can turn the mirror on
C G D
Saw your face and it looked all wrong
Am Bm C G
Where are the eyes that you looked out from?
D Am C
Two young coins in the rising sun

G

[CHORUS]
D C G C
Jump the line and turn the key;
D C Em
Lose your guard, believe in me;
G C G C
I can love you best of all;
Am Bm C D G
I am the wrecking ball.

G D C G C D Em G C
Am Bm C D G

Em D G D
So you curb and then the tragedy
Am C G D
You put your faith in a reverie
Am Bm C G
All good soldiers stand for thee
D C
Losing battles in front-row seats

Em D G D
As your shoulders curl and bend with time
C D G D
Then love and hatred must combine
Am Bm C G
You turn the page to reconcile
D C
You see, I've loved you all the while

[CHORUS]
D C G C
Jump the line and turn the key;
D C Em
Lose your guard, believe in me;
G C G C
I can love you best of all;
Am Bm C D G
I am the wrecking ball
G C G C
I can love you best of all;
Am Bm C D G
I am the wrecking ball
