MACHETE
AMANDA PALMER

INTRO: NONE

CHORUS:
Em D C Am
I have never liked the box of knives
Em D C Am
You said was a paradox because you’re kind
Em D C Am
But withstood a childhood that robbed you, blind
Em D C Am
Of love that was safe and so you learned to fight

CHORUS:
Em D C Am
I have never liked the box of knives
Em D C Am
You said was a paradox because you’re kind
Em D C Am
But withstood a childhood that robbed you, blind
Em D C Am
Of love that was safe and so you learned to fight

CHORUS:

VERSE:
Am C Em D
What do I do with the stuff
Am C Em D
It seems like yesterday I called you up
Am Bm C
I had a terrible case of the past
D G C
I didn’t know how to get it off
Am Bm C
I didn’t know how to get it off

PRE-CHORUS:
G
And you took
C
Your machete
G C
And you sliced through the vines that wrapped around me
G
And you said
Em D
I dont know what I’m doing
C Bm Am
So I’ll just keep on cutting
G C
It’s worth a little blood to get your arms free

CHORUS:

VERSE:
Am C Em D
What do I do with the stuff
Am C Em D
It seems like yesterday I was in love
Am Bm C
I kept on hardening the soft parts up
D G C
I didn’t know how to get them off
Am Bm C
I didn’t know how to get them off

PRE-CHORUS:
G
And you took
C
Your machete
G C
And you hacked through the woods in the surrounding
G
And you said
Em D
I dont know where I’m going
C Bm Am
I just know that I'm heading
G C
From the dead things piling up behind me

PRE-CHORUS:
G
And you took
C
Your machete
G C
And you carved out a path to my chest
G
And you said see
Em D
There’s nothing not worth keeping
C Bm Am
You've felt so many beatings
G C
But nothings gonna work if you believe me
G C
But nothings gonna work if you believe me

CHORUS:

CHORUS:
Em D C Am
I have never liked the box of knives
Em D C Am
I’d took it to the ocean side the day you died
Em D C Am
I stood out on the dock no matter how hard I tried
Em D C Am
I couldn’t drop them in and I collapsed and cried

VERSE:
Am C Em D
What do I do with the stuff
Am C Em D
It seems like yesterday you were alive
Am Bm C
And it’s as if you never really died
D G C
And it’s as if you never really died

PRE-CHORUS:
G
And you took
C
Your machete
G C
You said boo, guess who, but seriously beauty
Em D
You said see you got the drill now don’t you
C Bm Am
It’s not a will or won't you
G C
Can’t keep making symbols out of nothing

PRE-CHORUS:
G
So I took
C
Your machete
G C
And I sliced off your head and you laughed
G Em D
You said see it’s just like anti-matter
C Bm Am
It’s Dumbo's magic feather

OUTRO:
G
you don’t need me here to cut you
C
you don’t need me here to cut you
G
You don’t need me here to cut you
C
You don’t need me here to cut you

Em D
You don’t need me here to cut you
C
