[Intro]
F C F G (2x)

[Verse 1]
F C F C
This pretty young maid, I seek far and wide
Am Dm F G
My heartache each morn, with her I don't meet
F C F C
When I go to the bar, the dance hall or fete
Am G F C
But I'd follow her trail in the dead of the night

[Chorus]
Am Em G F
Now you're the young man that travels afar
Am Dm F G
Find me a gem I can have as my wife
Dm C F G C
Never yearn or pine for flocks nor for kine
F G F ~ ~ C F C F G
And I'll conjure a plan that will charm her life

[Verse 2]
F C F C
Have her youthful and fair, with no worry or care
Am Dm F G
Patient and wise in affairs of all kind
F C F C
Modest and mild, without too much pride
Am G F C
That is my love if she hadn't a dime

[Chorus]
Am Em G F
Now you're the young man that travels afar
Am Dm F G
Find me a gem I can have as my wife
Dm C F C

Let no blemish or shame be attached to her name

Honest in heart and gentle in mien

No hatred or vice to be heard in her voice

Find me a gem I can have as my wife
Dm C F G C
Never yearn or pine for flocks nor for kine
