[Intro]
G Em D G Em D C

[Verse 1]
G Em C G
The time draws near, my dearest dear

G Em C G
I wish that you were staying here
Em D C
For I would go with you

[Verse 2]
G Em C G
I wish my breast were made of glass
Em Am D
Wherein you might behold
G Em C G
Upon my heart to the many I's wrote
Am Em C
In letters made of gold
Am D
In letters made of gold, my love
Em D C G C D7
Believe me when I say
G Em C G
You are the darling of my heart
Em D C
Until my dying day

[Verse 3]
G Em C G
And every day would seem like two
Em Am D
And every hour, like ten
G Em C G
I lay and weep or forsake my sleep
Am Em C
'Til I see you again
Am D
'Til I see you again, my love
Em D C G C D7
There is no rest for me
G Em C G
No dreams foretold within my heart
Em D G
Of love, sweet love with thee

[Verse 4]
Em C G
And when you're in some foreign land
Em Am D
Well, think of your absent friend
G Em C G
And when the wind blows high and clear
Am Em C
A letter to me send
Am D
And when the wind blows high and clear
Em D C G C D7
Pray send his love to me
G Em C G
That I may know by your handwrite
Em D C
Of times I've gone with thee

[Instrumental]
G Em C G Em C D
G Em C G Am Em C
Am D Em D C G C
G Em C G Em D G C

[Verse 5]
G Em C G
The blackest crow that ever flew
Em Am D
Would surely turn to white
G Em C G
If ever I prove false to you
Am Em C
Bright day would turn to night
Am D
Bright day would turn to night, my love
Em D C G C D7
The elements would mourn
G Em C G
If ever I prove false to you
Em D C
The seas would rage and burn
