A.A. Bondy

Witness Blues

by A.A. Bondy
A.A. Bondy

Biography:

A.A. Bondy (born Auguste Arthur Bondy in Louisiana; also known as Scott Bondy ) is an American folk/alternative artist, the former lead singer of Birmingham, AL's Southern grunge darlings Verbena. After Verbena broke up in 2003, Bondy retreated to a Catskills home in Palenville in upstate New York and in time began writing songs again, emerging with a stripped-down indie folk sound. He recorded and mixed his debut album, "American Hearts", at a barn near his home, releasing the project in 2007 on the Superphonic imprint.

Just listen to the song a few times to get it right.

G C
Come out to the edge where it is quiet
D G
Where the ink will drain right out of you
G C
Far below, the sea and its convictions
D G
Get broken by the beach out of your view

C G
And once there was a time to join the army
C G
And once there was a time to hear the news
C G
And once there was a time for easy silence
D G
But now the jury waits for you

G C
You're caught between the mirror and the country
D G
And caught up in a prayer of liars' words
G C
The hounds are on your scent, you must move swiftly
D G
Their spies just tellin' lies of what they heard

C G
And once there was a time to join the army
C G
And once there was a time to hear the news
C G
And once there was a time for easy silence
D G
But now the jury waits for you

G C
So make yourself a mask of chrome and heartaches
D G
And give yourself a hand to turn away
G C
Once you heard a choir when you were dreamin'
D G
And you wish you could remember it today

C G
And once there was a time to join the army
C G
And once there was a time to hear the news
C G
And once there was a time for easy silence
D G
But now the jury waits for you
