A.A. Bondy

When The Devils Loose

by A.A. Bondy
A.A. Bondy

Biography:

A.A. Bondy (born Auguste Arthur Bondy in Louisiana; also known as Scott Bondy ) is an American folk/alternative artist, the former lead singer of Birmingham, AL's Southern grunge darlings Verbena. After Verbena broke up in 2003, Bondy retreated to a Catskills home in Palenville in upstate New York and in time began writing songs again, emerging with a stripped-down indie folk sound. He recorded and mixed his debut album, "American Hearts", at a barn near his home, releasing the project in 2007 on the Superphonic imprint.

Aa Bondy - When the Devil's Loose - Capo I

[Intro]
G Gmaj7 G Gmaj7

[Verse I]
G C
Up where the evening sun, the river rolls on by
D C G
The neighbors they tell secrets, the neighbors they tell lies
G C
And somewhere the plane went down, these things they never stop
D C G
Somebody feels the knife and somebody calls the cops

[Chorus]

Em G C D [D D/C#]
Oh the living and the dying, how easily you bruise
C D G
Oh Delia don't go 'round when the devil's loose

[Intro]

[Verse II]
A figure waits in the shadow, somone drowned in the lake
The march of Georgian feet down the highway and razor blades in the gate
These dogs will tear your flesh, you'd best give them a bone
I see you there in a sea of faces, I see you there alone

[Chorus]
In the living and the dying how easily you bruise
Oh Delia don't go 'round when the devil's loose

[Verse III]
And what does a mirror show you, can you see the gray?
Your sadness it is quite lovely but it's the sadness of a slave
Why don't you give yourself a rest, oh give yourself some room
You can't get your arms around everybody
You cannot carry the doom...

[Chorus]
...of the living and the dying, how easily you bruise
Oh Delia don't go 'round when the devil's loose
