Intro: C Am F C

C
We're taught to tell the truth

But yet we're taught to force a smile
Am
They lead us down a road

But they can only see a mile
F
We only see what they want us to see
C
We only see what they want us to see

C
They line us up in uniforms

And tell us not to feel
Am
They've never been to heaven

But they tell us that it's real
F
They only see what they wanna see
C
They only see what they wanna see

F
We watch them pray
G
Down on their knees
Em Am
'Cause that's the way that they were taught to be
F G
And thanks to them, we can be free
F G -hold-
Thanks to them...

F G Am
We have the key---------
F G Am
You'll be you and I'll be me
F G Am
We have the key---------
F G Am
You'll be you and I'll be me

C
They say that they're not puppets

Then we point them to the strings
Am
Convinced they'll stay together

By the paper and the ring
F
But they can't see what we want them to see
C
They just can't see what we want them to see

C
So tell me all your secrets

and I'll tell you all my fears
Am
'Cause if we knock these walls down
Am -hold-
We might know why we're here

F
We watch them pray
G
Down on their knees
Em Am
'Cause that's the way that they were taught to be
F G
And thanks to them, we can be free
F G -hold-
Thanks to them...

F G Am
We have the key---------
F G Am
You'll be you and I'll be me
F G Am
We have the key---------
F G Am
You'll be you and I'll be me

F
We watch them pray
G
Down on their knees
Em Am
'Cause that's the way that they were taught to be
F G
They just can't see

F G Am
We have the key---------
F G Am
You'll be you and I'll be me
F G Am
We have the key---------
F G Am
You'll be you and I'll be me
