The Districts

Suburban Smell

by The Districts
The Districts

Biography:

The Districts are a four-piece indie rock band from the small town of Lititz, Pennsylvania. The group formed in 2009 while members Rob Grote, Mark Larson, Connor Jacobus, and Braden Lawrence were all still in high school. The prolific young band released its first EP, Kitchen Songs, in 2011 followed by Telephone, its debut full-length, the following year. The Districts' second EP, the more acoustic-leaning While You Were in Honesdale, was released in late 2012 and the band continued to perform regionally.

[Verse 1]
Gm Bb Eb Gm Bb Eb
There's 16 homes on every street. They all of course lie in the neatest rows.
Gm Bb Eb Gm Bb Eb
Cradling broken homes and dinner prayers. Rocking us all to sleep in bones.
Gm Bb Eb
Which one's mine, I can't tell? Sick of that suburban smell.
Gm Bb Eb
They look the same, look the same.

[Chorus 1]
Bb Dm
And all the kids with money laugh
Bb Cm
Cheering for the retard dance
Bb Dm Bb Cm
Cheering for a touchdown they laugh

[Chorus 2]
Bb Dm
But I am not like them, I am not like them
Bb Cm
Only because
Bb Dm Bb Cm
I'm sick of watching them watch the retard dance.

[Verse 2]
Gm Bb Eb Gm Bb Eb
There's a party at the rich kid house. I get stoned in basements
Gm Bb Eb Gm Bb Eb
Mother I am not myself. But I don't laugh and watch the retard dance.
Gm Bb Eb
There are so many homes on every street. Piling in their lines so neat
Gm Bb Eb
I won't fold into those lies. Too drunk on that suburban smell
Gm Bb Eb Gm Bb Eb
To know which one of them is mine?. They look the same, look the same.

[Verse 3]
Gm Bb Eb
God gave us 16 homes on every street. So we all pray at the dinner table
Gm Bb Eb
Our sons are strong and they are able. To laugh and watch the retard dance
Gm Bb Eb
Sick of that suburban smell. Sick of that suburban smell
Gm Bb Eb Gm Bb Eb
Sick of that suburban smell. Sick of that suburban smell
