~VERSE~

Bm Bm7 Em7
This one's about a dream I had last night
Bm Bm7 Em7
How an old man tracked me home and stepped inside
Bm Bm7 Em7 G
He put his foot inside the door and gave a crooked smile
D G
Something in his eyes something in his laugh
F#m
Something in his voice that made my skin crawl off
Bm Bm7 Em7
He said I've seen you here before I know your name
Bm Bm7 Em7
You could have your pick of pretty things
Bm Bm7 Em7 G
You could have it all everything at once
D G
Everything you've seen everything you'll need
F#m
everything you've ever had in fantasies

~INTERLUDE~

Bm7 Em7
You've one life you've one life you've one life left to lead
Bm7 Em7
You've one life you've one life you've one life left to lead

~VERSE 2~

Bm Bm7 Em7
I woke up from my dream as a golden man
Bm Bm7 Em7 Bm
With a girl I've never seen with golden skin
Bm7 Em7 G
I jumped up to my feet she asked me what was wrong
D G
I began to scream I don't think this is me
F#m
Is this just a dream or really happening

~REPEAT INTERLUDE~

~CHORUS~

G A
What direction what direction
B
What direction what direction

I'm splitting up I'm splitting up
D G
This is my personal disaffection
A
What direction what direction what direction now

~VERSE 3~

Bm Bm7 Em7
I looked outside the glass at golden shores
Bm Bm7 Em7
Golden ships and masts with golden cords
Bm Bm7 Em7 G
As my refection passed I hated what I saw
D G
My golden eyes were dead and a thought passed through my head
F#m
A heart that is made of gold can't really beat at all

~BRIDGE~

G
I wanted to wake up again

I wanted to wake up again
Em7 G
Without a touch of gold
A
Without a touch of gold

~CHORUS 2~
G
What direction what direction

What direction what direction

Death or action
G
Life begins at the intersection
A
What direction what direction what direction now

~VERSE 4~

Bm Bm7 Em7
I woke up as before but the gold was gone
Bm Bm7 Em7
My wife was at the door with her night robe on
Bm Bm7 Em7 G
My heart beat once or twice and life flooded my veins
D G
Everything had changed my lungs had found their voice
F#m
And what was once routine was now the perfect joy

~OUTRO~
Bm7 Em7
You've one life you've one life one life left to lead
Bm7 Em7
You've one life you've one life one life left to lead
