4th Of July

by Shooter Jennings
Shooter Jennings

Biography:

Shooter Jennings (born Waylon Albright Jennings in 1979, ) is an American country music singer, the only child of Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter. His middle name comes from his father's drummer, Richie Albright. His father nicknamed him "Shooter" after he urinated on a nurse shortly after birth (as the elder Jennings wrote in his 1996 autobiography).

Shooter Jennings lived his first few years in a crib on his parents' tour bus. By age five, he was playing drums.

Intro A D

A E D
Alone with the morning burning red in the canvas in my head
D F#m E
Painting a picture of you
A E D
And me driving across country in a dusty old RV
D F#m E
Just the road and its majesty
D E
And I'm looking at you with the world in the rear view

Chorus-
A
You were pretty as can be sitting in the front seat
E A
Looking at me telling me you love me and your happy to be
A D
With me on the th of July
A
We sang Stranglehold to the stereo
E
Couldn't take no more of that rock n roll
A D
So we put on a little George Jones and just sang along

A E D
Those white lines get drawn into the sun if you aint got no one
F#m E
To keep you hanging on
A E D
And there you were like a queen with your nightgown riding shotgun from town to town
D F#m E
Staking a claim on the world we found
D E
And I'm singing to you your singing to me you were out of the blue to a boy like me

Chorus-
A
You were pretty as can be sitting in the front seat
E A
Looking at me telling me you love me and your happy to be
A D
With me on the th of July
A
We sang Stranglehold to the stereo
E
Couldn't take no more of that rock n roll
A D
So we put on a little George Jones and just sang along
