nacio en Suecia , se hico conocida en Estocolmo. Se llamaba Sara Helberg.Desde muy temprana edad se sintio atraida por el teatro. Los domingos tocaba organo en la Iglesia, hacia sonar el instrumento con melodias modernas, cuando el oficio terminaba . A los 20 años casada y separada canta en una apartada capilla. Sus tonos oscuros, timbre pastoso de contralto cautivan al maestro de capilla del Teatro de Estocolmo y se convierte en la principal atracción del Teatro.
