Chalkhills And Children

by XTC
XTC

Biography:

XTC were a rock band from Swindon, England led by Andy Partridge (guitars, vocals) and Colin Moulding (bass, vocals). Active between the late 1970s and the mid 2000s, XTC's music ranged from jerky new wave/punk riffs to lushly-arranged progressive pop. They also drew heavily from vintage pop rock and psychedelia from the 1960s, genres which they began to explore more deeply after creating The Dukes of Stratosphear side-project. While XTC failed to maintain significant commercial success after the 1980s

The beautiful ending piece to "Oranges and Lemons" by Partridge and Company,
featuring some atmospheric jazz chords on the keyboards. This is how I play
it acoustically. Below are my preferred voicings (Low E to High E), though
they are mostly barre chords, anyway. It's not as hard to memorize as you
think:

C: 8-10-10-9-8-x
Bbmaj7: 6-x-7-7-6-5
Fsus4: x-8-10-10-11-x
Fmaj7 (Verse): x-8-10-9-10-x
Eb: x-6-8-8-8-x
Dm9: x-5-3-5-3-0
Ebmaj7: x-x-1-3-3-3
Em: x-x-2-0-0-5 (Open high E if you can't stretch)
Fmaj7 (Pre-Chorus): x-x-3-5-5-5
Ebmaj7 in Chorus: x-6-8-7-8-6
Dm7: x-5-7-5-6-5
C#maj7: x-4-6-5-6-4
Fmaj7 (Chorus): 1-x-2-2-1-0
C/F: 1-3-2-0-1-0 (Use thumb on the low F)
Bmaj7/F: 1-1-3-2-3-1
F: 1-3-3-2-1-1
Ab6: x-3-1-1-1-1
Fm6/C: x-3-0-1-1-1
C#maj7/6: x-4-6-5-6-6
Abmaj7/Eb: x-6-5-5-4-4

Oh, and here's the keyboard riff that shows up so frequently throughout the song:
