Wolf Parade

What Did My Lover Say It Always Had To Go This Way

by Wolf Parade
Wolf Parade

Biography:

Wolf Parade is an indie rock band from Victoria, British Columbia, based in Montreal, QC. The band went on indefinite hiatus in 2011, but announced its return to recording and performing in January 2016. Wolf Parade was formed when Spencer Krug (also Sunset Rubdown, Frog Eyes, Moonface and Swan Lake) was offered a gig supporting Arcade Fire. He called Dan Boeckner (formerly of notable B.C. band Atlas Strategic, now also part of Handsome Furs) and they wrote songs with a drum machine before calling Arlen Thompson to play drums.

What did my lover say
C
When she was driving with you?
Em C Em D
I could not see her face
C
From my new bed.

Em C Em D
I don't think I should be sorry
C
For things I do in dreams.
Em C Em D C
Just like the tumbling birds come tumbling down.

Em C Em D
I got a sandcastle heart
C
Made out of fine black sand.
Em C Em D
Sometimes it turns into glass
C
When shit gets hot.

Em C Em D
I wonder if all the beaches,
C
In all your holiday towns,
Em C Em
Will turn to giant shining earrings against the cheek of the sea
D C
When finally this supernova goes down.

Just like my lover said,
See,

Em C Em D C
It always had to go this way.
Em C Em D C
It always had to go this way.
Em C Em D C
It always had to go this way.
Em C Em D C
It always had to go this way.

Em C Em D
I sleep all night with the light on,
C
And dream about the sun.
Em C Em D
Maybe because of the light,
C
Maybe because of the sun.
Em C Em D
I got a friend who's a genius
C
Nobody listens to him.

I got some friends that got famous,

La la lala la la lala.

I don't think I should say sorry

Some people live like they're falling,
