Wolf Parade

Cest La Vie Way

by Wolf Parade
Wolf Parade

Biography:

Wolf Parade is an indie rock band from Victoria, British Columbia, based in Montreal, QC. The band went on indefinite hiatus in 2011, but announced its return to recording and performing in January 2016. Wolf Parade was formed when Spencer Krug (also Sunset Rubdown, Frog Eyes, Moonface and Swan Lake) was offered a gig supporting Arcade Fire. He called Dan Boeckner (formerly of notable B.C. band Atlas Strategic, now also part of Handsome Furs) and they wrote songs with a drum machine before calling Arlen Thompson to play drums.

[Verse 1]
C Am
Why In your c'est la vie way
F
Did you cry, cry, cry
Fm Ab G
When you were listening to a mixtape from your friends?

[Verse 2]
C
Do you miss them
Am
In your c'est la vie way
F
More than you'd missed me if you'd stay
Fm Ab G
In the hemisphere I asked you to return from?

[Bridge]
F C
Or maybe you can pull apart your brain
G
Like if there's a Russian doll inside another Russian doll
Dm
You'd seen it all in your c'est la vie way

[Verse 3]
C Am
So I, I'll try and be a decent partner
F
Try to keep the teardrops off your face
Fm
Be kind enough to regard me

[Chorus]
Ab G C
In your c'est la vie way
Am
In your c'est la vie way
F
In your c'est la vie way
Fm Ab
In your c'est la vie way

[Outro Verse 1]
C

C Bm Am G
The ceremony was alright
F
But like most ceremonies it
E Dm
Lacked a gravity that I
C
Would have liked
C Bm Am
There were too many cameras out
G F
And the microphone gave out as she adjusted her gown
E Dm C
So the crowd couldn't make out the first half of his busted vows

C Bm Am G F E Dm C
C Bm Am G F E Dm

[Outro Verse 2]
C Bm Am
You said if you ever leave me I will die
G
I could have died it was so cheap
F
Oh come on father set us free
E
But our hearts fell apart anyway
Dm C
When we heard her say c'est la vie

C Bm Am G F

E
Oh yes our hearts fall apart anyway
Dm C
When we heard her say c'est la vie
