Across The Borderline - Willy DeVille

Intro: E B7 E E

E B7 E D A
There's a place so I've been told, where every street is paved with gold
E B7
And it's just across the border line
E B7 E D A
And when it's time to take your turn there's a lesson that you must learn
E B7 E
You could lose more than you ever thought you'd find

A E
And when you reach the broken promised land
A E
And all your dream slips through your hands
E B7
And you know it's too late to change your mind
A E A E
Because you've paid the price to come so far just to wind up where you are
E B7 E
And you're still just across the border line

Instrumental as per first verse

A E
And when you reach the broken promised land
A E
And all your dream slips through your hands
E B7
And you know it's too late to change your mind
A E A E
Because you've paid the price to come so far just to wind up where you are
E B7 E
And you're still just across the border line

E B7 E D A
Up and down the Rio Grande a thousand footprints in the sand
E B7
Reveal a secret no one can define
E B7 E D A
The river flows on like a breath in between are life and death
E B7 E
Tell me who's the next to cross the borderline

A E
And when you reach the broken promised land
A E
And all your dream slips through your hands
E B7
Then you'll know it's too late to change your mind
A E A E
Because you've paid the price to come so far just to wind up where you are
E B7 E
And you're still just across the border line
E B7 E
And you're still just across the border line
E B7 E
Tell me who's next to cross the border line
