[LISA]
A
Hey, mister!
Hey, you!
G7
What are you looking so sad for?

[ROGER]
Bm
Nothing, really nothing, absolutely nothing
A/B
How about some money?

[LISA]
Bm A
I can’t refuse
Bm
I need new shoes
A
And some pants
G
I need romance
Bm
What about you?

[ROGER]
A
Tonight, after eight long hours he appeared
G
It was worse than the doctor had feared
D F#7
And then the doctor said, “I hoped by now he’d be awake;
Gm6
At least I thought he’d be awake.
Bm
My mistake.”
A D
Then I prodded him and poked him
F#7 Bm
And his mother started crying
G Gm6 D D/C# D/C
And then Rhoda started yelling at the nurse
Bm Gm6 A9 A7(b9) Bm
It was a really lousy day in the universe

[LISA]
A/G
You love him
Too bad
G7
What are you looking surprised for?

[ROGER]
E/D C#m7
We hoped things would turn out better

[LISA]
F#m7 Bm7 D/E
Things don’t get better
E7 G/A
They only seem to
G/B
Then they don’t
C#m7 D
Don’t be surprised
E/D C#m7 F#m7
When life turns out to be
G(9)
A trashy old catastrophe
A/G
And, oh
Hey, mister!
It’s all right
G7
Life is a rotten occasion

[ROGER]
Bm
Let me give you money

[LISA]
Bm
Please forget the money
A/B
Please do not insult me
I’m not amused

[ROGER]
Bm
But it’s therapy

[LISA]
G
I give therapy for free
Bm
I’m just glad to have a client finally

[ROGER]
A D
So I called his name and hugged him
F#7 Bm
But the jerk is in a coma
G Gm6 D D/C# D/C
And his mother hopes he dies if he gets worse
Bm Gm6 A9 A7(b9) Bm
It was a really lousy day in the universe

[LISA]
Bm
They all are
They all are
