E A E
Burn my body in the Northern Field
E A E
Let the wind blow the ashes around
E A E
And then you will know that my wounds have been healed
E A E
Cause Lord I'll be homeward bound

E
Let the flames warm your hands
A E
Let the glow light your way
A E
These gifts to you I bestow
A E
And noones listenin don't bother to pray
A E
If you do lord I'll never know

E A E
Well up and up the smoke will roll
A E
Like a cloud of frightened crows
E A E
To Carry my not so immortal soul
A E A
Up between the rows
E A E
Up between the rows

E A E
Burn my body in the Northern Field
E A E
Let the wind blow the ashes around
E A E
And then you will know that my wounds have been healed
E A E
Cause lord I'll be homeward bound
A E A E
Oh lord I'll be homeward bound

E A E
Some words that are said can cut like a saw
E A E
My ears nearly bled at the sound
A E
And I cant help prepare for the springtime thaw
A E
cause lord ill be homeward bound

E
And the frost turns to flowers
A E
and they all start to bloom
A E
and theres nothin left to hoe
A E
well tip one back and sing me a tune
A E A
And never let the fire grow cold
E A E
Never let the fire grow cold

E A E
Burn my body in the Northern Field
E A E
Let the wind blow the ashes around
E A E
And then you will know that my wounds have been healed
E A E
Cause lord I'll be homeward bound
A E A E
Oh lord I'll be homeward bound
