Weeping Tile

by Weeping Tile
Weeping Tile

Biography:

Weeping Tile was a Canadian rock band in the 1990s.

The band was started by singer-songwriter Sarah Harmer in 1993, when she was invited to fill in for the opening band at a Bag of Hammers concert in Ottawa, Ontario. Taking the name Weeping Tile from the clay pipes that are placed around the foundations of rural homes to draw groundwater away from the building, she did the show as a duo with Joe Chithalen, and later added other musicians to round out the lineup.

[Verse 1]
Em C D C
A natural disaster comes out wasn't natural after all
Em C D C
In a small town on the east coast, well they gathered in a firehall
Em C D C
And who forgot to let the canary out?
Em C D C
Will you be there when they're pulling bodies out?
Em C D

Em C D C
And there are strange things done under the gun by the men who moil for coal
Em C D C
Eastern gales of howled out tales that would make your blood run cold
Em C D C
Lighthouse eyes watch us spies and they put a word out on me
Em C D C
That night you and I got lost on the drive up the coast of the Northumberland Strait

[Chorus 1]
Em C D D
You'll know in a little while
Em C D D
If this was meant to be
Em C D D
Are you afraid of you?
Em C D D

[Verse 2]
Em C D C
There wasn't a breath in the land of death and I hurried, horror driven
Em C D C
Was it something I said, somewhere in her head, I just asked for the answer given
Em C D C
Twenty minutes up the road, just off the great highway
Em C D C
I won't be around here for long, I did not come to stay

[Chorus 2]
Em C D D
You'll know in a little while
Em C D D
If this was meant to be
Em C D D
Are you afraid of you?
Em C D D

[Verse 3]
Em C D C
And it's one year later it has yet to come clear
Em C D C
No one's doing anything 'cause they're scared of the way that they might appear
Em C D C
They're ignoring all the signals they could not afford to hear
Em C D D C
A private investor in public fear

[Bridge]
D C D C
Well my hopes exceed my expectations
D C D C
My hopes exceed my expectations
D C D C
My hopes exceed my expectations

[Chorus 3]
Em C D D
You'll know in a little while
Em C D D
If this was meant to be
Em C D D
Are you afraid of you?
Em C D D
Are you afraid of me?

Em C D D
You'll know in a little while
Em C D D
That this was meant to be
Em C D D
Are you afraid of you?
Em C D D
