Said The Whale

Oh K, Okay

by Said The Whale
Said The Whale

Biography:

Said the Whale is a Canadian band formed in 2007 as a collaboration between songwriters Ben Worcester and Tyler Bancroft. The pair’s debut EP, Taking Abalonia, featured sunny west coast indie pop, with breezy harmonies, shimmering guitars and lyrical tributes to their home city of Vancouver, “nodding at times to the sea shanties of Neutral Milk Hotel and at others to the boat-shoe-gazing of Vampire Weekend” said The National Post. In 2008, the album was re-released as Howe Sounds/Talking Abalonia

G
I laid a kiss upon your forehead that night
G
We laid awake and you wondered why I’d said
C
“I’d never felt a kiss quite like this before ”
G
You said “A kiss is a kiss ”

But it was never like this before

G
Oh K Oh K Okay
G
Oh K Oh K Okay

G
I laid my head upon your chest in the dark
G
You said to me that if it’s only a spark
C
That can grow to be the nucleus of flame
G
Well then a flicker in the dark

Will start a good fire all the same

G
Oh K Oh K Okay
G
Oh K Oh K Okay

Em Am
I’d never met a girl who
G Em
Thinks the way that I do
Am D
About the better things
Am D
Like the reflection of the moon
Am D
Or the mortality of fire
Am D G
And the distance of a star and us

G
Oh K Oh K Okay

G
I lay my thoughts upon you in the dark
G
I lay beside you and listen to your heart beat
C
Rippling the water on the lake and the stars
G
And the night sky and bright sparks

G
Oh K Oh K Okay
G
Oh K Oh K Okay

Em Am
I’d never met a girl who
G Em
Thinks the way that I do
Am D
About the better things
Am D
And the reflection of the moon
Am D
Or the anatomy of fire
Am D Em
Or the distance of a star and us

Em G Am Em
La da dum dum dum We’ll never be alone
Am D
As long as we survive
Am D
Separated by the miles
Am D
Far across the land
Am D G
And on a distant shore there’s us

G
Oh K Oh K Okay
G
Oh K Oh K Okay
G
Oh K Oh K Okay
G
Oh K Oh K Okay
