Tracy Grammer - Winter When He Goes

CAPO: 1st Fret

INTRO: G D

N.C. G
As the sun is to the city
Gmaj7
In the endless weeping winter
C
So is joy to me, and pity
Em D
When he leaves me falsely tender

G
Like the true love's knot we tethered
Gmaj7
Plastic ivy 'round the portal
C
For to frame the spring forever
Em D C
Though the blizzard took the mortal holy rose
D G D
It's always winter when he goes

G
As a matter of convenience
Gmaj7
We don't speak of dying gardens
C
As a woman of heart and lenience
Em D
I make liberal with my pardons

G
I am generous with kindness
Gmaj7
He with smiles and exaltations
C
Though he binds his wounds in silence
Em D C
I my own in practiced patience lest he know
D C
It's always winter when he goes
D G
It's always winter when he goes

Em C Bm
He collects the twigs and briars
C D Em
I stack them up for fire
D C
But it's chilly for the burning
Em C Bm
And he really slumbers in the straw
C D Em
I hold out for the thaw
D C
For the seasons won't be turning

G
As I'm writing you this letter
Gmaj7
The bluestem's running riot
C
And daisies break their fetters
Em D
And the bees will not lay quiet

G
If you find him where he's dancing
Gmaj7
With his lover or his jailer
C
Say in April's splendid mansion
Em D C
I lay broken by his trailer in the snow
D C
It's always winter when he goes
D C
It's always winter when he goes
D G D C
It's always winter when he goes
