The Wonder Of It All
~ Tompall Glaser

[Verse 1]
B E
Candy spun in little clouds
B
That melted as it touched his mouth
E
Made him want to smile out loud
B F#
Laughter in the taste
E
A spinning wheel that stood so high
B
Many splendored code of lights
F#
Carried him right to the sky
E B
And took his breath a-way
B
And Ruby did her dance again
B
And the way she danced entranced the men
B
And left their minds entangled in
E B
The fever of desire
B
Upon the stage her mama sat
B
The billboard said two tons of fat - yeah
B
Slightly to the right of that
E B
Oh her daddy swallowed fire - yes he did

[Verse 2]
B
A tattooed man stood tall and thin
B
His life engraved upon his skin
B
From birth to death and back again
E B
And some wishes left unfilled - uh hmm
B
A flipping twisting acrobat
B
A midget with a magic hat
B
A world of fantasy and fact
E B
Where the laughter overspills
E
Lord the wonder was unspeakable
B
And too much to take in all at once
E B
Too much is often worser than too little
F#
Sometimes
E
He just sat there in his daddy's truck
B
Deaf and dumb and thunderstruck
F#
The wonder of it all
E B
Was almost too much for his mind

[Verse 3]
B
Now the march of time has slowed his pace
B
And the child is gone now from his face
B
And with his grandson in his place
E B
He remembers other times
B
He marveled at the barker's call
B
And the decorated canvas wall
B
And the gamble wonder of it all
E B
Echoes clearly in his mind
E
Candy spun in little clouds
B
That melted as it touched his mouth
E
Made him want to smile out loud
B F#
Laughter in the taste
E
A spinning wheel that stood so high
B
Many splendored code of lights
F#
Carried him right to the sky
E B
And took his breath away - ah ah ah - ah ah ah - ah ah ah

[Outro]
N.C.
SPOKEN: Step right up now and see the seventh wonder of the world
N.C.
See the fat lady - See the tattooed man
N.C.
Get your candy - Get your popcorn - Get your cotton candy
N.C.
Right here! See the seventh wonder of the world
