C
The man who preached the funeral

C F
Said it really was a simple way to die

G7
He laid down to rest one afternoon

G7 C
And never opened up his eyes

C
They hired me and Fred and Joe

C F
To dig the grave and carry up some chairs

G7
It took us seven hours

G7 C
And I guess we must have drunk a case of beer

C
I guess I ought to go and watch them put 'em down

C F
But I don't own a suit

G7
And anyway when they start talking about

G7 C
The fire in hell well I get spooked

C
So I'll just sit here in my truck

C F
And act like I don't know 'em when they pass

G7
Anyway when they're all through

G7 C
I've got to go to work and mow the grass

C
Well here they come and who's that

C F
Riding in that big ole shiny limousine

G7
Mmh look at all that chrome I do believe

G7 C
That that's the sharpest thing I've seen

C
That must belong to his great uncle

C F
Someone said he owned a big ole farm

G7
When they get parked I'll mosey down

G7 C
And look it over that won't do no harm

C
Well that must be the widow in the car

C F
And would you take a look at that

G7
That sure is a pretty dress

G7 C
You know some women do look good in black

C
Well he's not even in the ground

C F
And they say that his truck is up for sale

G7
They say she took it pretty hard

G7 C
But you can't tell too much behind the veil

C
Well listen ain't that pretty

C F
When the bugler plays the Military taps

G7
I think that when you was in the war

G7 C
They always hide and play a song like that

C
Well here I am and there they go

C F
And I guess you'd just call it my bad luck

G7
I hope he rests in peace the trouble is

G7 C
The fellow owes me forty bucks
