Todd Snider

Looking For A Job

by Todd Snider
Todd Snider

Biography:

Todd Daniel Snider is a singer-songwriter born October 11, 1966 in Portland, Oregon.

Best known for his wry humor, Snider has been a fixture on the Americana, alt-country, and folk scene since his debut on MCA, entitled Songs for the Daily Planet, named for the bar where Snider used to play regularly in Memphis. On that album were the minor hits "Talkin' Seattle Grunge Rock Blues", a folk song about the early '90's grunge scene, featuring a band that "refused to play"

Looking For A Job
By: Todd Snider

Capo on the 1st fret

G Cadd9 G
You can't talk to me like that boss
G Cadd9 G
I don't care who you are
G Cadd9
If you don't want to have to hang your own dry wall
G Cadd9
Don't push me too far
D Cadd9 G
Boomtown work ain't hard to come by
D Cadd9 G
Boomtown workers are
D Cadd9 G
You might be the one running the show but
Cadd9 D
That don't mean you're in charge

Chorus:
G Cadd9
I was looking for a job when I found this one
G Cadd9
Don't need the work like you need the work done
G Cadd9
You look like you're under pressure
G Cadd9 G
I was looking for a job when I met you

G Cadd9 G
I'm sharing a room with two guys over at the motel 6 boss
G Cadd9 G
Sending every dime I make here home to my ex-wife
G Cadd9 G
Just did two years and 28 days
G Cadd9
With a little better aim i'd been in there for my life
D Cadd9 G
So you see, broke won't take much getting used to
D Cadd9 G
Neither will a barb wire jail house wall
D Cadd9 G
Watch what you say to someone with nothing
Cadd9 D
It's almost like having it all

Chorus 2:

G Cadd9
I was looking for a job when I found this one
G Cadd9
Don't need the work like you need the work done
G Cadd9
You look like you're under pressure
G Cadd9 G
I was already looking for a job two weeks ago when I met you, remember?
