Tift Merritt

Biography:

Catherine Tift Merritt (born January 8, 1975, in Houston, Texas, but moved to Raleigh, North Carolina soon after) is a critically acclaimed American singer-songwriter, musician. She is currently based in New York.

Merritt's father taught her guitar chords and Percy Sledge songs. She began her professional career in 1998 with her band The Carbines playing small clubs. In her early twenties, though Tift had gigged by herself, she decided she was not very good at music and better suited for writing short stories.

Tift Merritt - Feel Of The World

CAPO: 3rd Fret

INTRO: Em

G Em C Em
I'll tell you what I will miss
G C Em
California and horses
G C Am Em
Down by the sailboats where we waded in
G C Em
The feel of the world in my hands, my hands
G C G C G C Em
The feel of the world in my hands, my hands, my hands

G C Am Em
And still so many ways that I love the wind
G C Am Em
From a storm in the sails to the breath on your lips
G C Am Em
It's such a little thing, then again, then again
G C Em
The feel of the world in your hands, your hands
G C G C G C Am
The feel of the world in your hands, your hands, your hands

BRIDGE:
G D Am
Just like the Sunday we drove out from Houston
G D Am
Out to the edge of the world, out where the sky starts to bend
G D Am
After awhile in the sun, you'll be sleeping, sleeping

INSTRUMENTAL: C G C G C G Em

G C Am Em
I picture you now, you are beautiful, you are golden
G C Am Em
Just like you were when you thought no one was looking
G C
Time will take care of you, love
Am Em
Time will take care of you, love
G C Am Em
I will take care of you, love, again, again
G C Em
The feel of the world in my hands, my hands
G C G
The feel of the world in my hands, my hands, my hands
