The Waterboys

Mister Charisma

by The Waterboys
The Waterboys

Biography:

The Waterboys is a British celtic band formed in 1983 by Scottish musician Mike Scott. Their songs, largely written by Scott, often contain literary references and are frequently concerned with spirituality. Both the group and its members' solo careers have received much praise from both rock and folk music critics, but The Waterboys as a band has never received the commercial success that some of its members (such as Ian McNabb, leader of The Icicle Works; Trevor Hutchinson, a founding member of Lúnasa; etc) have had independently.

[Verse 1]
Dm
Tell me, Mister Charisma
C6add9 Gm7
What will your next trick be?
Dm C6add9
Slagging Sgt Pepper, snorting your old man's bones
Gm7
Or falling out of a tree?

[Verse 2]
Dm
Hold on, Mister Charisma
Cadd9 Gm7
You got something tasty up your sleeve
Dm
Something to mash your best friend's brains
Cadd9 Gm7
Or have we been deceived?

[Bridge]
Dm
I wish it was a riff, I wish it was a riff
Cadd9 Gm7
A riff as stiff as a teddy boy's quiff
Dm
I wish it was a song, an elegant song
G7sus4/C Gm7
Good as Wild Horses, but twice as long

[Coda]
Dm
Tell me, Mister Charisma
Csus4 Gm7 Dm
What will your next trick be?
