The Thermals

Let Your Earth Quake Baby

by The Thermals
The Thermals

Biography:

The Thermals were a pop-punk trio from Portland, Oregon. The band was formed in 2002 and released seven records and toured at least fifteen countries.

The Thermals' sixth LP and debut for Saddle Creek, Desperate Ground, was produced by John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth) in Hoboken, NJ. Agnello and The Thermals completed the record and evacuated the studio just hours before Hurricane Sandy ravaged New Jersey, a fate quite fitting when you consider the product.

There's a good version on here with just power chords, but it wasn't doing it for me so
I thought I would modify it and fill it out with full barre chords. this version is
great for playing solo acoustic or with just one guitar accompanied by bass and drums.

F G Am Bb
Pull me from the cold and pass me to your shoulders
Dm C Dm C
Keep me dry and warm, keep me high and normal

F G Am Bb
Cause I'm riding in your strut and lying in your gutter
Dm C Dm C
Drunken and confused, ready for abuse

Ebm C
So let your earth quake, baby

F G Am Bb
Push me to the ground and break my ears with sound
Dm C Dm C
I have never heard, I have never deserved

F G Am Bb
Keep me deaf and muted, slap me til I'm stupid
Dm C D C
I'm dying for your hand, I'd die to understand

Ebm
So let your earth quake, go ahead and break me
F
My skin invincible, you can't phase me

Bb Gm
I will take whatever you give me
Cm
If you pour I'll be the sieve
Ebm
And I will filter just to live
Bb Gm
So let your earth quake, baby, you know me
Cm Ebm
I surrender completely and slowly

F G
I'm feeling like a genius
Am Bb
I pound the wall I've built between us
Dm C
My hammer tears
Dm C
With my come I will repair

F G
I deposit what I've felt
Am Bb
In the winter I can sell it
Dm C
It grows in the cold
Dm C
Until the soil is eroded

Ebm
So let your earth quake, go ahead and break me
F
My skin invincible, you can't phase me

Bb Gm
I will take whatever you give me
Cm
If you pour I'll be the sieve
Ebm
And I will filter just to live
Bb Gm
So let your earth quake, baby, you know me
Cm Ebm Bb
I surrender completely and slowly, slowly
