The Steel Woods

Let The Rain Come Down

by The Steel Woods
The Steel Woods

Biography:

The Steel Woods are an American country music group[1] from Nashville, Tennessee.[2] They play music in the style of music of Southern rock.[3] They released their debut record via Woods Music / Thirty Tigers.

A quartet of Southern rock traditionalists from Nashville, the Steel Woods lay claim to the sound pioneered by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Like Skynyrd, The Steel Woods balance heavy blues-rock with Southern poetry, and they add a bit of plainspoken outlaw country to the mix, as evidenced on their 2017 debut, Straw in the Wind.

D
We all need rain, Lord, the sun sure stings
D
Somebody string a rattle snake up
D
Good Lord my whole world ran dry
D
The day that wicked ol’ witch said bye

[Chorus]
D D *
She put a curse on me and one on the river
D
Now my crops won’t grow no more
D
I’ve got a hollow heart, pocket full of nothing
D
My soul wont rest and my eyes won’t pour
C/D G/B
Let the rain come down

[Verse 2]
D
I should’ve been long gone, cold turkey
D
Instead I’m sitting on the front porch stoned
D
Looking back now the past seems murky
D
It ain’t no wonder why my moneys all gone

[Chorus x1]

[Bridge]
D* D* D* D*
Look yander to the west I can feel it in my bones

D* D* D* D* D*
Better pay hed to the past or wind up dry
