The Rural Alberta Advantage

North Star

by The Rural Alberta Advantage
The Rural Alberta Advantage

Biography:

Toronto-based trio The Rural Alberta Advantage (Nils Edenloff, Amy Cole, and Paul Banwatt) play indie-rock songs about hometowns and heartbreak, born out of images from growing up in Central and Northern Alberta. They sing about summers in the Rockies and winters on the farm, ice breakups in the spring time and the oil boom’s charm, the mine workers on compressed, the equally depressed, the city’s slow growth and the country’s wild rose, but mostly the songs just try to embrace the advantage of growing up in Alberta.

Intro C/G

C/G
Well our eyes,
Fmaj7th
Watching the stars one at a time,
Am
I lost the words I'm clutching on your hand tight,
Fmaj7th
Wear a small sweater and it looks nice,
C/G
I never felt better then the North Star,
Fmaj7th
Guiding us home in your friend's car,
Am
Will we ever take a chance or will we restart?
Fmaj7th
The sky is a map that's guiding back to my heart.
G
Then the North Star,
C/G
Guiding us home in your friend's car,
G
Follow the North Star,
Am
It's leading you back into my heart.
Fmaj7th C/G
And then we're home,
Em G C/G
When we hit the city limits don't forget me for a minute tonight.
Fmaj7th
We're far apart under the same sky,
Am
You're driving in the dark I'm in the city's lights,
Fmaj7th
Wishing just to see you for another night.
C/G
We're looking above for the North Star,
Fmaj7th
Guiding us home in your friend's car,
Am
Will we ever take a chance or will we restart?
Fmaj7th
The sky is a map that's guiding back to my heart.
G
Then the North Star,
C/G
Guiding us home in your friend's car,
G
Follow the North Star,
Am
It's leading you back into my heart.
Fmaj7th C/G
And then we're home,
Em G C/G
When we hit the city limits don't forget me for a minute tonight.

Interlude

C/G, Fmaj7th, Am, Fmaj7th x2

G
Then the North Star,
C/G
Guiding us home in your friend's car,
G
Follow the North Star,
Am
It's leading you back into my heart.
Fmaj7th C/G
And then we're home,
Em G C/G
When we hit the city limits don't forget me for a minute tonight.
