The Raveonettes

Im So Lonesome I Could Cry

by The Raveonettes
The Raveonettes

Biography:

The Raveonettes are an indie rock/shoegaze/noise pop duo formed in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 2001. Comprising Sune Rose Wagner (guitar, instruments, vocals), formerly of Psyched Up Janis, and Sharin Foo (guitar and vocals), their music is characterized by close two-part vocal harmony inspired by The Everly Brothers, coupled with hard-edged electric guitar overlaid with liberal doses of noise.

The name, The Raveonettes, is a direct reference to The Ronettes, and Buddy Holly's song Rave On!.

Four years of hard work!

This month of May we celebrated four years on the air. We continue working on the dissemination of this wonderful instrument, thank you for participating in our story!

Different than the other versions of this song, this is my fave.
There's a few instrumental bits to work out, and some nice chord changes.
Here's the basics as far as I can hear... comments welcome.

The lyrics below are as on the Pretty In Black album.
A whip-poor-will is a nightjar bird.

No Capo (transpose down 2 for capo on 2nd)

Ebm 668876
B 224442
F# 244322
Db 446662

Intro: Ebm

Ebm
Hear that lonesome whip-poor-will
Ebm
He sounds too blue to fly
B F#
The midnight train is winding low
Db Ebm
I'm so lonesome I could cry

Ebm
Have you e'er seen a night so long
Ebm
When time goes crawling by
B F#
The moon just went behind the clouds
Db Ebm
To hide its tears and cry

Ebm
Did you e'er see a robin weep
Ebm
When leaves begin to die
B F#
That means he's lost the will to live
Db Ebm
I'm so lonesome I could cry

Bridge:
Ebm F# B F# Db Ebm

Ebm
The silence of a falling star
Ebm
Lights up a purple sky
B F#
And as I wonder where you are
Db Ebm
I'm so lonesome I could cry
