Mull River Shuffle

by The Rankin Family
The Rankin Family

Biography:

The Rankin Family is a Canadian folk music family group from Mabou, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia.

The Rankins come from a family of 12, all of whom would entertain the neighbours musically every third weekend as part of a ceilidh.

Five of the siblings began performing professionally in 1989. The Rankins released their own independent cassettes The Rankin Family (1989) and Fare Thee Well Love (1990) featuring original songs and a combination of traditional jigs, reels and Celtic folk songs.

I noticed it wasn't here so I tried my best to figure it out. You can do a quick change between A
and D on the 3rd beat of the last lines of each chorus and every verse except verse 1 if you like.
A good ol' Cape Breton tune. Great to kick up your heels to.

D G A
Here comes Mister MacNeil
D G Em
The fine shape that he is in
D G A
There is no telling which way he'll feel
D G Em
After his twister around the beinn

D G A
Raisin' the jar an raisin' hell
D G Em
There's plenty of stories that they will tell
D G A
Some are born of true detail
D
Some are purely fiction

D G A
Look up yonder it's old MacPhee
D F Em
He's having a few he can hardly see
D G A
Wrapped his buggy around a tree
D
Someone call the Mounties

D G A
Raisin' the jar an raisin' hell
D G Em
There's plenty of stories that they will tell
D G A
Some are born of true detail
D
Some are purely fiction

D G A
There they stand by the door
D G Em
Selling bush by the score
D G A
Asking you to buy some more
D
Along the shores of 'Cocomagh

D G A
Raisin' the jar an raisin' hell
D G Em
There's plenty of stories that they will tell
D G A
Some are born of true detail
D
Some are purely fiction

D G A
I'll go home, I'll go home
D G Em
Full of the devil and full of the rum
D G A
I'll go home, I'll go home
D
We'll all go home in the morning
